WHY I BUILT UNASHAMED JOURNEY
I know what it feels like to grow up needing a blueprint and not having one.
My childhood included fatherlessness, instability, loss, and experiences that taught me how to survive long before I understood how those things were shaping me.
When that’s your normal, you learn certain skills.
You learn to keep moving. Read the room. Handle things yourself. Stay strong. Become useful. Don’t need too much from anybody.
Some of those things help you survive.
The problem is they don’t automatically disappear when life gets better.
You can become a grown man with people depending on you and still carry the reactions of the kid who learned that everything could change without warning.
I eventually had to start asking harder questions.
Why do I react this way?
Why is slowing down difficult?
Why can providing feel easier than being present?
What kind of man do I actually want my family to experience?
And maybe the biggest one:
Am I becoming the man I needed when I was younger?
That’s where Unashamed Journey comes from.
Faith has become the foundation. Physical training has taught me discipline and responsibility. Fatherhood and marriage have forced me to think differently about presence, patience, leadership, and what it actually means to provide.
I work a normal job. I have responsibilities. I get tired. I make mistakes. I still have things I’m working through.
That’s important to me because UJ isn’t supposed to be a guy standing above everybody handing out advice.
It’s one man doing the work and helping another man do the same.
If you grew up without a healthy blueprint, your past matters.
But it doesn’t get the final word.
Become the man you needed.
